Residential Waste Collection
The City of Thompson collects residential garbage and recycling from curbside bins on a 5-day schedule. Street parking is not permitted on garbage days.
If your bins were out before 8 a.m. on your garbage day but didn't get emptied, call Public Works at 204-677-7970 as soon as possible. Usually, any missed garbage or recycling bins can be collected the following day.
If a holiday falls on your garbage and recycling day, it moves to the following day.
The City of Thompson has dedicated garbage and recycling trucks. If only one is available due to repairs or maintenance, it empties both sets of bins - recycling in the morning and garbage in the afternoon and evening. Waste collection can continue until as late as 8 p.m. when there is only one truck.
