Stories

Every champion has a story: why they came to Thompson, why they stayed, and what their vision is for Thompson in the future.

Our list of champions and their stories is always growing. Read up on our champions' journeys, then don't forget to submit your own!

Don't forget to share your Thompsonite moments with us using the #mythompson hashtag, whether you're on Facebook or Instagram! We're watching both!

Lynn Taylor

Lynn has a storied career in Thompson, rising from tax clerk right up to City Manager while juggling a number of community organizations! Today she keeps the community informed and accountable as the publisher of the Thompson Citizen... when she isn't spending time at the lake, that is!

Raj Thethy

Raj came to Canada to build a better life: today, he's a champion of business, development, and a thoroughly-clean car. Luckly, he still manages to fit in a few rounds of golf in the summer!

Jack Robinson

Jack has been in northern Manitoba longer than Thompson itself. He's a respected elder that oversees many community events in Thompson, and he's passionate about reconnecting Indigenous youth with their culture.

Tracy "Smitty" Smith

Tracy came to Thompson on his honeymoon and found a totally different kind of love. He runs audio for countless community events (often for free) and loves to play live music whenever he can!

Bruce Krentz

You might recognize Bruce as one of our local media personalities, but he's also been a huge advocate for active living since he came to Thompson. He's one of those nuts that bikes all winter!

Jasyn Lucas

Jasyn has found stellar success in Thompson as an artist, both on skin and on canvas. He's deeply connected to our northern landscape, and envisions Thompson as a "Hub of Hope"!
