Garbage & Recycling

Curbside Waste Collection

The City of Thompson collects garbage and recycling from curbside bins on a 5-day schedule. Bins should be out by 7 a.m. to ensure collection, and street parking is not permitted on garbage days because it will interfere with emptying the bins.

If your bins were out by 7 a.m. on your garbage day and your waste was not collected, please call us as soon as possible. Almost always, we can collect your garbage the following day.

If a holiday falls on your garbage and recycling day, it moves to the following day.

When the Garbage Truck is Broken Down

The City of Thompson usually has dedicated garbage and recycling trucks. When one truck is unavailable due to repairs or maintenance, the other truck collects both garbage and recycling: recycling is collected in the morning, while garbage pickup takes place in the evening. Delayed evening pickup can take place as late as 8 p.m.
