Councillor Jeff Fountain
Jeff Fountain was born and raised in Thompson, the son of a music teacher and a blaster at Inco Ltd. After pursuing a science degree at the University in Winnipeg, he spent four years in Shimokawa, Japan as a teacher. It is there that he met his wife Ritsuko. They have two children, Makoto and Kaede.
Jeff has benefitted from the many service organisations that have made Thompson a better place: Scouts, TNT Swim Club and OWS World Scholarship to name a few. He feels blessed to have been raised in a community with so many activities and opportunities.
After returning to Thompson, Jeff has involved himself in a number of organisations to return the favour. He has served on the Thompson Recycling Centre Board, Parents Committee at Ecole La Voie du Nord and as a coach for both wrestling and martial arts teams over the years.
Jeff is an avid gardener and operates Fountain Family Pharm: a holistic farm and orchard just south of Thompson. He is an avid photographer, but most of all, Jeff identifies as a martial artist with experience in kickboxing, MMA, Jiu-jitsu, Judo and Kendo.
Jeff has worked for Vale as a metallurgical analyst and currently works for the Environmental Compliance and Enforcement Branch as an Environment Officer.
