Halloween Allergens and Safety Notice
Posted Date: 30/10/2017
Halloween: Allergies and Safety while Trick or Treating:

Thompson Fire and Emergency Services reminds parents of potential allergens found among the candy collected by your children this year. Many candies contain common allergens like peanuts in ways that may not be immediately obvious to the child.

We ask that parents remind their children to wait until they get home before digging into their candy, where parents have the opportunity to inspect their children’s collected candy and ensure they are not eating anything harmful.

Thompson Fire and Emergency will have five mobile units around Thompson on October 31: each will be equipped to respond to a number of medical incidents, including allergic reactions.

Community Safety Officers will be patrolling residential areas as well as downtown that evening. They will continue to be available as the need arises.

The City of Thompson reminds motorists to be wary of the large number of children celebrating tomorrow evening, often in large groups or dark costumes. Please exercise caution, particularly in residential areas, and particularly with the large snowfall we have received over the last weekend.

Stay safe, and Happy Halloween!
