Bears and Residential Garbage - July 25, 2017
Posted Date: 25/07/2017
***Bears and Residential Garbage - July 25, 2017***

Please be advised that there have been several confirmed reports of black bears within city limits.

In order to dissuade bears from wandering into the community, please do not take your garbage to the curb until the morning of garbage collection in your area. Reducing the visibility and availability of food significantly reduces the time which a bear will spend in a given area.

If possible, residents can also store their garbage in a secure structure such as a garage or a shed, particularly those living next to the treeline.

If you have an issue with wildlife during office hours (8:30am – 4:30pm), please call 204-677-6653. For after-hours emergencies, call 1-800-782-0076.

Please call Manitoba Sustainable Development at 204-677-6653 for any further information. The City of Thompson thanks you for your cooperation.
